- Unbelievable Restoration! Rusty Antique Sharpening Machine Restoration
Lost in time and covered in rust, this 1908 antique sharpening machine had been abandoned for decades. Once a crucial tool for craftsmen, it was now a forgotten relic, buried under layers of rust and grime. Many would have considered it beyond saving, but through careful restoration, we brought this old rusty sharpening machine back to life.
This vintage tool restoration is not just about removing rust; it’s about reviving history. Over 100 years old, this sharpening machine was built in an era when craftsmanship mattered. In this video, we take on the challenge of restoring it to its former glory.
The Restoration Process:
Disassembly: Every nut and bolt from this rusty antique tool was carefully removed to assess the damage.
Rust Removal: Using electrolysis, rust converters, and mechanical grinding, we stripped away decades of corrosion.
Repair & Fabrication: Some parts were beyond salvage, requiring custom fabrication to match the original 1908 design.
Painting & Finishing: A fresh coat of antique-style paint was applied to preserve the machine’s original vintage look.
Reassembly & Testing: Once restored, we reassembled and tested this antique sharpening machine, proving that even after a century, it could still function.
Why Antique Restoration Matters:
Restoring old rusty tools is not just about functionality; it’s about preserving history. This 1908 sharpening machine represents a time when tools were built to last. Rusty antique restorations help us appreciate the craftsmanship of the past while preventing these historical pieces from being lost forever.
Safety First!
Restoring antique machines can be hazardous due to rust, sharp edges, and aged mechanical parts. Always use protective gloves, safety goggles, and proper tools when working on a rusty restoration project.

Tip: play this at twice normal speed, the slow-mo is really annoying!
I think you felt its speed more, our way of working
Sandblasting should’ve been a plus for this restoration
A demonstration of the machine would have been helpful. It looks great, but what does it do??
I'd like to see at the end how the 'sharpening' machine works !
Restaurada Máquina de Afiar 😉
I think Sandblasting these parts would have been much better. Electrolysis takes too long. While the smaller parts you could have used a sand tumbler.
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!
What technique do you like the best???
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Nice! But I wanted to see it function.
Tidak usah digoyang goyang bendanya, cukup diperlihatkan saja .
Electrolysis works great if you know what you're doing. Negative to the part(s) to be cleaned, positive to the sacrifical part. You mislead a lot of people into potentially ruining their parts.
Porque todo lo tomas con pinzas. Es más simple con los dedos
It is not a restauration. You cleaned it and painted it, but did not repair the warped handle or straighten the rim of the metal plate.
The man's movements are so annoying
It's gotten better, but there's still a TON of scraping that drives me insane. The older videos used to be padded by AA taking a scalpel or some such scraping tool and going over every square inch of the project before finally doing something useful. Infuriating.
Beautiful restoration job.
Well that was painful to watch.
But Why ?
@aahands I get being mindful of the camera and all that, but the exaggerated movements coupled with those dam tweezers was hard to watch.
I am a heavy drinker, so I cannot watch any channel that is sponsored by AA! Lol
Why not grind the pits smooth
No vere mas, no traduce las explicaciones
now we know how to get rid of rust…
edit: …and color - but will never know how this machine works 😅
Total waste of time. Improper electrolysis poor technique with tools. What is this thing, how does it work? 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
How slow!
Mery pass sandblasting cabinet or 5Hp compressor hy. Or me sale karna chahta hu.
Using for what exactly?
🎉🎉🎉
You painted the ways where the brass gibs slide. 😕
Unbelievable Restoration!? Where? Because you seem to have no idea what restoration means.
One would think that after all this time you buy the proper tools, learn learn to use them and even look at some other restoration channel for better a insight. This is also a small part of a machine with lots of parts missing to show how it's used. I have no idea where you got all your subs, and views from.
Not asmr sound volume
Love your channel but enough with the tweets!
People should probably ask yourself how much is too much when it comes to playing with surface rust.
SO ANNOYING! The absolute LONGEST panning on each screw, playing with tweezers, wrong spelling everywhere and no demonstration at the end? Even electrolysis done incorrectly, could have achieved a better result!
“Lighten up, Francis”
This person obviously has no idea what he is doing.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Not at all a Good Restoration, Lack of Proper Tools and Equipments, Over demonstration.......... PERHAPS DONE FOR YOU TUBE POPULARITY..........
THE PRODUCT WAS STILL GOOD😢 SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESTORED EVEN MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER
Більш розтягнути реставрацію буде просто неможливо. Півгодини насипати лимонну кислоту - це занадто. Пінцет- інструмент для дрібних деталей, а не гвинтів розміром з великий палець.
Tук редовно ни правят на идиоти!
What is this.. 😒Where is the experience..؟؟ I wonder why this device.؟؟. I wasted my time for the final result..☝🏽😒 I was disappointed 😒
❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂
Das ist eine Frechheit!
As soon as you put parts in coke im out. Your videos are dumb.
What a waste of time It was my first and last time I visit your site
